Women's Tennis Falls to Brandeis, 8-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University women’s tennis team improved to 5-4 with an 8-1 non-conference win over visiting Bates College. Brandeis opened up a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles points. Senior Abby Lerner (Spring, Texas) and rookie Colleen Donnelly (Bethany, Conn.) teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1, the largest margin of victory for the Judges in doubles. In the singles matches, sophomore Jen Krueger (Memphis, Tenn.) won at No. 2, 6-1, 6-2, while junior Shani Reich (No. Miami Beach, Fla.) captured a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 5 that clinched the match. Brandeis also won two of the three matches that were decided in third-set super-tiebreakers, as junior Christine Clancy (Yarmouth, Maine) won at No. 6 and rookie Ana Katz (Waltham, Mass.) each won the 10-point game by scores of 10-7 and 10-8, respectively. Bates got its only win at No. 3 singles, where sophomore Emma Nochmovitz (Cleveland, Ohio) defeated Donnelly, 6-3, 3-6, and 10-6 in a super-tiebreaker. Brandeis def.
