Women's Tennis Out-Duels White Mules
April 6, 2005

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates College women’s tennis team relied on its depth in rallying to a 5-4 win over the visiting Colby White Mules Wednesday at Merrill Gymnasium.

The Bobcats started out strong in the doubles play, winning two of the three matches highlighted by the convincing wins of No. 2 team Tara De Vito ’05 (East Hills, N.Y.) and Lindsay Yost ’05 (Erie, Pa.), and the No. 3 team of Liz Currie ’06 (Yarmouth, Maine) and Heather Bracken ’05 (Pittsburgh, Pa.).

Colby boasted too much strength at the top of the singles lineup, and took the top three singles matches, each in straight sets.

However, the depth of the Bobcat singles lineup was too much for Colby as Currie, Laura Harris ’07 (Mercer Island, Wash.), and Diana Wilkinson ’05 (Los Angeles, Calif.) won at No’s 4, 5, and 6 to clinch the match for the home team.

The Bobcats are ready for their last match before finals against Smith College on Saturday, most likely outside at the Wallach Tennis Center, at 4 p.m.
