Class of 1934

Class Secretary: Ruth Carter Zervas, c/o Cindy Brown, 65 Belmont Ave., Randolph ME 04346

Class President: Doris Neilson Whipple, 216 Nottingham Rd., Auburn ME 04210

Verna Brackett Kirby lives in Venice, Fla. Both she and her house survived the hurricanes. She keeps busy with various church and club activities.... Bob Butler spends his summers on the island of Vinalhaven, Maine. In the winter, he goes to Jupiter, Fla., and State College, Pa., where he spends time with his grandson.... Doris Neilson Whipple played the Bates Alma Mater on the piano for the returning alumni in June. She flew from Portland, Maine, with a friend to Anchorage, Alaska, where they went on the Coral Princess cruise and ended up in Vancouver, Canada. Then they flew home. Charles Whipple still goes to his summer home on Fire Island.... Lois Seamon recalls how her late husband, Ted, was a star debater at Bates.... Betty Smith of Kingfield, Maine, sees people with canoes traveling by her house in the summer and in the winter it's skiers going to Sugarloaf.... Angela d'Errico Wiesman moved to a skilled care nursing facility, Hampshire Care, situated in a wooded park in Leeds, Mass., in August 2004. At 93, she is independent-minded but frail, and needs the kind of caring attention the staff provides. She is happy with her apartment and praises the people who care for her. Her bookcase is near her favorite chair, next to a window overlooking the beautiful grounds. The newspaper is delivered to her every day, so she keeps an active eye on the wider world. She receives daily visits from family and is sure to take at least a short walk to visit inside or enjoy the outdoors, weather permitting. She sends greetings and best wishes to her classmates, who share an important part of her memories of youth.... Crescentia Zahn Griffiths lost her husband, Larry, in October 2003, and has moved to a retirement community in Auburn.... Ruth Zervas has been active in the DAR, recently ending a three-year term as regent of the local chapter.
