Program Notes
The regular season consists of dual meets, including competitions with Maine rivals Colby and Bowdoin to determine the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin Championship. The team also faces other traditional New England Small College Athletic Conference rivals such as Middlebury, Trinity and Wesleyan. The NESCAC Championships are contested in late February or early March, and individuals who meet qualifying standards compete at the NCAA Championships in March. 2003-04 Men's Recap and 2004-05 Outlook The Bobcats posted a 4-5 dual meet record in 2003-04, beating NESCAC rivals Colby and Connecticut College. The Bobcats posted a 4-5 dual meet record in 2003-04, beating NESCAC rivals Bowdoin and Trinity. The Bobcats were within one point of a winning season, falling to Wesleyan 122-121 in the season opener. With the majority of the team returning, Bates will use the 2004-05 season to build momentum towards the goal of becoming one of the most competitive teams in the NESCAC. |
