Jessica Gandolf paints portraits of figures from America’s past using traditional oil painting techniques to explore contemporary ideas about heroism and identity. Gandolf is a National Endowment for the Arts Regional Visual Arts fellowship recipient. She has been awarded residencies at The Macdowell Colony in New Hanpshire and The Cummington Community for the Arts in Massachusetts. Her work has been exhibited across the country, internationally and in many venues in Maine including the Portland Museum of Art (Biennial, 2001and 2005), the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (Biennial, 2002 and 2004) and the University of Maine Museum of Art (2004).
