BATES COLLEGE HONORS PROGRAM

The Honors Committee has established the following calendar for the 2009-2010 Honors Program. Nomination Forms for admission into the Honors Program will be sent to all Department and Program Chairs mid-September. Hard copies of the Honors Guidelines will be provided to all involved Chairs, Faculty Advisors and Candidates once Nomination Forms have been received. (In the interest of paper conservation, other interested parties may request a copy, and it will also be available on this website in downloadable PDF format.) HONORS NOMINATION DEADLINE
Deadline for nomination of May 2010 graduates to the Honors Program. Any nomination after this date will be refused unless the Honors Study Committee grants an exception. Recommendation forms, indicating Thesis deadline, must be submitted to Academic Services.

HONORS ORIENTATION
Orientation in Chase Lounge, Chase Hall, 7:00 - 8:00 PM. Refreshments will be served. Meet and mingle with your fellow Honors candidates and Honors advisors.

HONORS THESIS ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Deadline for candidates to submit a titled, one-paragraph description (200 words maximum) of the thesis to be included in the Honors Abstract Book. One-paragraph descriptions must be submitted as Microsoft Word in an email attachments to academicservices@bates.edu.

Four (4) bound copies of the completed thesis are due in  117 Lane Hall  between 10:00 AM and 3:00 P.M.
Please note:  None of these copies go to the advisor. A separate copy must be made if the advisor requires one.

Oral examinations for candidates who submitted a thesis.

Semi-formal attire requested

Time: Reception at 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Dinner at 6:30 p.m.

THESIS REVISIONS DUE                                                           
Thesis corrections required by examining panels are due in Academic Services by 3:00 P.M.

Advisors are strongly urged to check with potential Outside Examiners regarding their availability for the pertinent exam period  before submitting a Nomination Form.
