LEWISTON, Maine -- The Steve Grover Quartet, featuring celebrated jazz clarinetist Brad Terry, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Olin Arts Concert Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

An acclaimed pianist, composer drummer and teacher, Grover is the 1994 winner of the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz/BMI Jazz Composers Competition for "Blackbird Suite." He also garnered recognition as a winner in the 1996 JAZZIZ magazine "Percussionists on Fire" talent search. As a jazz drummer, Grover has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Tate and Lenny Breau.

Grover recently released "Remember" (Invisible Music, 2000), a CD featuring a program of nine original compositions of melodic, modern, swinging, reflective and joyful music. Grover's previous well-received CDs include "Blackbird Suite" and "Consideration."

Clarinetist Brad Terry has recorded with Roger Kellaway, Red Mitchell and Jarek Smietana, among others. His recordings with guitarist Lenny Breau, "The Living Room Tapes," were widely acclaimed. Other Terry CDS include "Brad Terry Plays Gershwin," "Colorado" and "All About Spring."
Grover's ensemble for the Olin concert is composed of Terry, pianist Frank Carlberg and bassist John Lockwood.
