Communications and Media Relations maintains and regularly replenishes a folder of medium- and high-resolution JPEG images for general College use, including PowerPoint projects.

To access this folder, click Bates Scans (available to faculty and staff only; Internet Explorer required). Subfolders include everything from studio-quality faculty portraits and a comprehensive set of building images, to classroom, research, sports and student-life photos. All images in Bates Scans may be used on the Bates Web site without credit.

General Photo Policy
Staff or freelance photography executed by Communications and Media Relations is reserved for office-defined news, editorial, and marketing projects in association with the offices of Advancement, Admissions, the President, the Dean of Students and the Dean of Faculty.

CMR does not produce photographic prints. Persons wishing to make prints from digital images can use one of the many online services (e.g., Shutterfly.com) or a local business that offers digital print-making services.

Freelance Photographers
For photo needs beyond the scope of CMR news, editorial and signature marketing projects, CMR will offer a list of freelance photographers and general tips on how to secure photography. Please contact Phyllis Graber Jensen at 207-786-6327.

High-Resolution Photos for Bates Print Publications
If your high-resolution photo need is for a signature publication for Advancement, Admissions, or the offices of the President, the Dean of Students or the Dean of Faculty, please contact Manager of Design Services Camille Buch at 207-753-6947.

• For persons outside of Bates seeking College images for personal use, we can provide access to, or help you obtain prints of, only those images that have previously appeared in print publications created by CMR, or been posted on Bates Web pages maintained primarily by CMR (Bates Now, Bates Magazine, Athletics). CMR will not conduct photo archive searches for personal use.
