Photographer To Exhibit German Work At Bates Museum

LEWISTON, Maine -- The Museum of Art at Bates College will exhibit the work of German-born photographer Elke Morris, a member of the Bates arts faculty, in an upper gallery exhibit, "Photographs: German Sites," from Jan. 10 through March 23.

Morris will discuss her work in a lecture, followed by an opening reception, on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. in the museum, located in the Olin Arts Center. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

From Jan. 10 through March 20, the lower gallery of the museum will exhibit "Making Japanese Color Woodcuts," featuring prints from the museum's permanent collection donated by Weston and Mary Naef. The lower gallery will also display "Contemporary Women Printmakers," a show curated by Susannah C. Shaw, Bates class of '96.

The Museum of Art at Bates, closed Mondays and major holidays, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The museum is on the corner of Bardwell and Russell streets on the Bates College campus. For tour scheduling and general information, call 207-786 6158.
