Campus Closure Preparedness
In the event of an outbreak of COVID-19 on campus, or the risk of our local healthcare system being over capacity, it is important that we are prepared to evacuate campus swiftly and safely to protect Bates students, staff, and faculty’s health and well-being.
If the college determines it is unsafe for the campus to remain open, students will be alerted that they must leave campus within 48 hours. Students who live in driving distance should leave campus within 24 hours of an announced campus closure.
All students will be required to complete and submit a personal departure plan, known as an Evacuation Plan, prior to their arrival on campus. This will ensure that both students and the college know how they will get home in the event of a campus closure, ensuring swift and safe departures for all students.
