Student Arrival

If your fall 2020 attendance plans (in person, remote, other) have changed, please immediately email Student Affairs staff member Faith Hauger,, to request that you be able to update your Fall Attendance Questionnaire.

This page directs you to information about arriving at Bates for the fall 2020 semester.

Getting Ready

Bates continues to share information with all students about the steps they need to take to ensure a safe and smooth arrival on campus in August.

Traveling to Bates and Arrival

Please consult this page with information about traveling to and arriving at Bates.

Students will return to campus in stages between Aug. 25 and Aug. 27. The staged arrival allows ample time for two rounds of COVID-19 testing while reducing arrival traffic on campus.

In addition, students must complete the Campus Public Health Videos prior to arrival on campus.

New Student Orientation

Bates student leaders, staff, and faculty can’t wait to welcome you to Bates on your move-in day. First things first: Please complete your First-Year Forms prior to your arrival on-campus.

Throughout the summer, we will update you on new-student arrival plans and continue to stay in touch with you through the Class of 2024 Facebook, email, and Facebook Live “Ask Me Anything” sessions with upperclass students, faculty, and staff.

Bobcat First!

In addition to the remote portions of Orientation, first-generation students registered for Bobcat First! and their support networks will receive an invitation to participate in a variety of virtual programs and sessions. Pre-orientation information will be available here, @bobcatfirst on Instagram, and from the Office of Intercultural Education staff. We look forward to welcoming the Bobcat First 2024 cohort to Bates.

International Student Services and Support

The Center for Global Education supports the experiences of our international student, faculty, and staff colleagues on campus, representing over 90 countries, and is committed to sustaining and protecting your Bates experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
