{"id":680,"date":"2024-04-11T22:06:39","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T02:06:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/access\/?page_id=680"},"modified":"2025-10-07T10:27:33","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T14:27:33","slug":"best-practices-for-keys-and-master-keys","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/access\/best-practices-for-keys-and-master-keys\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Practices: Keys\/Master Keys"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bates College Campus Safety and Facility Services work together to maintain an access control system that supports the safety of Bates community members, facilities, property, assets and information. <strong>All College community members share in this responsibility and need to take steps to enhance safety and security on campus.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keys must be kept secure at all times.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not leave keys unattended or accessible to unauthorized individuals.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lost or stolen keys must be reported immediately.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keys need to be returned upon the end of employment or if the key is no longer needed to fulfill job responsibilities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t duplicate keys.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t unlock doors for unauthorized persons.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t give your key to someone else.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t throw keys away that are no longer in use, work or fit.
