We outline below some of the key services available, though the list is not exhaustive.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Academic Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Please click the link for a comprehensive\u00a0listing of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/academics\/resources\/\">Academic Resources at Bates College<\/a>. Available resources include:<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/academic-resource-commons\/\"><strong>Student Academic Support Center (SASC)<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Student Academic Support Center (SASC) provides support for introductory and intermediate level courses in mathematics, statistics, programming, natural sciences, life sciences, and quantitative social sciences. SASC is located in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/peer-learning-commons\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peer Learning Commons<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the Ground Floor of Ladd Library.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/student-writing-language-center\/\">Student Writing and Language Center (SWLC)<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Student Writing &amp; Language Center (SWLC), located in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/peer-learning-commons\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peer Learning Commons<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the ground floor of Ladd Library, empowers Bates students in becoming more effective writers, language-users, communicators, thinkers, and learners by providing a supportive environment for idea generation, collaboration, drafting, writing, reading, revising, editing, studying, speaking, and presenting. SWLC tutors are Bates students trained to listen to and guide their peers in using writing and language to achieve students\u2019 personal and academic goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h2><strong>Other Types of Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The following resources are also accessible to all students:<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/counseling-psychological-services\/\"><b>Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)<\/b><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Available to all Bates students, CAPS provides comprehensive, confidential mental health care. Services provided include assessment and evaluation, counseling, and referrals to off-campus providers for specialized or intensive treatment. Students can schedule an appointment by calling or visiting the office.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/health-services\/\">Health Services<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Operating in conjunction with Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC), Health Services is a place where students requiring care but not hospitalization may be seen for medical concerns. Services provided include general medical care, onsite pharmacy services, and diagnostic testing. Students can schedule an appointment by calling or visiting the office, which is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/chaplaincy\/\">Multifaith Chaplaincy<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Multifaith Chaplaincy warmly and creatively serves the religious, spiritual, searching, and seeking community at Bates. In addition to weekly and annual offerings, students can access confidential pastoral care and conversation by scheduling an appointment with a Multifaith Chaplain.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/student-center-belonging-community\/\">Student Center for Belonging and Community<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Student Center for Belonging and Community is a multipurpose space that welcomes those who value or embody diversity and aspire to participate in an inclusive community. Students come to the Student Center for Belonging and Community to seek support from professional staff and build community among those with similar identities and experiences. Cultural affinity groups often gather and provide peer to peer programming and community. In addition, Bobcat First! serves as a resource for students who identify as first generation to college.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/oie\/sparq\/\"><b>SPARQ!<\/b><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>SPARQ! is a multidimensional program dedicated to providing resources and\u00a0support for the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies, including peer mentors, LGBTQIA+ community dinners, and educational opportunities. SPARQ! Peer Mentors provide one-on-one support for students who identify as LGBTQIA+ or are navigating their sexual, romantic, or gender identity. Students can be paired with a mentor for continuous support or\u00a0drop-in during office hours.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/student-affairs\/student-support-and-advising\/\">Student Support Advisors<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Student Support Advisors (SSAs) provide personal support and supplemental academic advising to a cohort of students, responding to concerns as they arise. These advisors are the primary contact for personal and social concerns and a connection point for faculty who have concerns about a student, academic or otherwise.
