Federally funded sponsored projects are subject to the guidelines set forth in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/cgi-bin\/retrieveECFR?gp=&amp;SID=226f68ff422888133eefad076ce8f1f0&amp;mc=true&amp;n=sp2.1.200.e&amp;r=SUBPART&amp;ty=HTML#se2.1.200_1475\">2 CFR, Part 200 Uniform Guidance, (200.475)<\/a> Travel Cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Air Travel &#8211; U.S. carriers should be used for all domestic air travel. Air travel to a foreign country must be on a U.S. carrier, if available. <em>Please contact the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/grants\/front-page\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Office of Research and Sponsored Programs<\/a><em>&nbsp;if you are contemplating traveling on a foreign carrier and expect to charge the cost to your federal award.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alcohol &#8211; The federal government has mandated that no alcohol may be charged as either a direct or indirect expense of federally sponsored projects.
