Senior Assistant Dean of Admission
“Where are you from?” is the most difficult question for Susan to answer, having lived in Virginia, Colorado, Maryland and Melbourne, Australia at different points during her childhood. Susan found her way to Maine by way of Bates as a high school student during her own college search process. Immediately drawn to the community, academic opportunities, and top notch food in Commons, Susan knew Bates was the place for her and graduated with a B.A. in Economics in 2014. Several years later, Maine has become her home and despite trying her hardest, she knows she still has a long way to go before she can begin to pass as a true “Mainer” (learning to like seafood is the next step). After spending two years working in management consulting after graduation, Susan sought to align her professional energies with her passion for education and felt the pull of Bates once again. She comes to work every day motivated by Bates’ mission of educating the whole person and commitment to diversity, access, and inclusion. While not at work, Susan enjoys doing anything active, going to the movies (she has a goal to see all Best Picture nominees every year), and exploring Maine’s beautiful towns, beaches, and mountains.
