The college\u2019s Philip J. Otis Committee invites you to attend the Twenty-Eighth Annual Otis Lecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s lecture, “What is the Problem of Freedom?” will be given by Ol\u00faf\u00e9mi O. T\u00e1\u00edw\u00f2, author of Elite Capture <\/em>and Reconsidering Reparations<\/em>. This lecture is made possible by the Philip J. Otis \u201995 Endowment<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Ol\u00faf\u00e9mi<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Ol\u00faf\u00e9mi O. T\u00e1\u00edw\u00f2 is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University and a fellow at the Climate and Community Institute. He is the author of the critically acclaimed books Elite Capture and Reconsidering Reparations, a contributor to Greta Thunberg\u2019s The Climate Book, and a past recipient of a Marguerite Casey Freedom Scholar fellowship. T\u00e1\u00edw\u00f2\u2019s public philosophy, including articles exploring intersections of climate justice and colonialism, has been featured in The Guardian, The New Yorker, The New Republic, The Nation, Boston Review, Dissent, Al Jazeera, Foreign Policy, Hammer & Hope (where he is a member of the Editorial Team). His writings have been translated into Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, and Korean, among other languages.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The lecture will begin at 7:30pm in Olin Arts Center Concert Hall<\/a>. Following the lecture, a book signing will take place outside the Concert Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
