We expect that through the thesis process you will achieve the following:<\/p>\n<h3>Personal Intellectual Growth<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate\u00a0intellectual curiosity\u00a0through the choice of topic and approach.<\/li>\n<li>Acquire a\u00a0specialized set of skills\u00a0(listening, formulating research questions, using constructive criticism) developed through a\u00a0productive relationship with an advisor.<\/li>\n<li>Create a\u00a0completed product.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Content<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate a\u00a0depth of knowledge about one of the four fields\u00a0in the discipline of anthropology.<\/li>\n<li>Evince your\u00a0intellectual heritage\u00a0by drawing on and citing appropriately the anthropological scholarship and theory relevant to your topic.<\/li>\n<li>Examine a\u00a0cultural text or ethnographic case\u00a0with\u00a0depth and originality.<br \/>\n&#8212; Describe, interpret, and analyze the text or case.<br \/>\n&#8212; Recognize the contradiction, complexity, and embeddedness of this case.<\/li>\n<li>Indicate that you\u00a0think anthropologically.<br \/>\n&#8212; Understand insider&#8217;s \/ outsider&#8217;s perspective by demonstrating an awareness of your own positionality.<br \/>\n&#8212; Understand a relativistic perspective as compared to an ethnocentric one.<br \/>\n&#8212; Understand the limits of relativism.<br \/>\n&#8212; Put the case in temporal or spatial context.
