Bates College offers six arts-related majors, a statistic which only scratches the surface in terms of the inclusion of arts across the curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At winter\u2019s end comes the Mount David Summit, a showcase of student academic achievement. The arts component includes photography, film and literary presentations, and coincides with major departmental performances of dance and music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We offer a major in Studio Art and a major and minor in the History and Criticism of Art and Visual Culture. Studio art courses focus on making\u2013students create animation, ceramics, drawings, films, paintings, photographs, and prints.
