Department\u00a0Concerts<\/h3>\n

\"160331_Dance_Dress_0789\"The\u00a0Department of Theater and Dance produces dance concerts throughout the year.\u00a0First we have the Back to Bates Weekend Dance Concert<\/strong>,\u00a0\u00a0which\u00a0highlights the breadth of the program\u00a0with works by guests, faculty and students. The Fall Dance Concert<\/strong> celebrates\u00a0the completion of the Fall Semester’s projects by faculty and guest artists. The highlight of winter semester is the Spring Dance Concert<\/strong>, which features student choreography of all levels from beginner to thesis.<\/p>\n

Other performances of interest include Sankofa, Asia Night,\u00a0and the Short Term Variety Show, a campus favorite produced by students in Dance Club.<\/p>\n

Bates Dance Festival<\/h3>\n

\"8338841861_f51b4cc13d_o\"Every summer,\u00a0the Bates Dance Festival brings together an international community of choreographers, performers, educators and students in a cooperative community to study, perform and create new work. Through this community the Festival encourages a creative exchange of ideas and offers audiences\u00a0a wide range of opportunities to\u00a0experience contemporary dance, thus affirming the essential power of the arts to enrich our lives.<\/p>\n

The five week season showcases acclaimed and emerging contemporary dance artists in main stage performances, free lecture\/demonstrations, master classes, scholar’s notes, talks and Q & A’s.<\/p>\n
