2021 Family Day Schedule

Registration is now open for Back to Bates Family Day on Saturday, October 2, 2021.

Families must register using the link they received via email on September 15. As a reminder, only fully vaccinated individuals may attend Back to Bates: Family Day this year. Guests must have a legible photo or photocopy of their vaccine card with them while on campus

6-8pmShabbat Evening Services and Dinner 
Location: Library Arcade
$10 per guest, with 80 advance tickets available (includes student attendees). 

A gathering sponsored by the Bates Jewish Student Union for families and students to celebrate the Jewish Sabbath. Evening service followed by a Shabbat dinner.
NotePortable restrooms at Leahey Field (by dugouts), Russell Street Field, and by Garcelon Field (behind visitor and home bleachers).

Location: 65 Campus Avenue

Want to wear your Bates pride on your sleeve – or on your head or on your coffee mug? We’ve got you covered! The Bates College Store is open for all your Bobcat shopping needs. Since the store is a high-density guest area, masking is mandatory, and capacity limits will be in effect. Thank you for showing kindness to our store staff.

Prefer to have your Bobcat goodies waiting for you when you get to campus? Shop online with us before you arrive, and we can deliver your items curbside!

After getting your nametag at Check-In, join other Bates families for coffee or tea and informal networking. This is a great way to connect with others from your student’s class year or from your area of the world.

Get to know campus with a knowledgeable – and friendly! – student tour guide. A great activity for younger Bobcat siblings who may be interested in Bates.

Free with 200 advance tickets available. 

Join us for coffee, tea, and a Bobcat chat! Spend time getting to know other Bates families, and then hear from President Clayton Spencer and members of the senior team at an informal and informative Q&A.

Location: Commons Tent
$15 per adult, $10 per child (ages 2-11), with 600 advance tickets available. 

Refuel with a tasty BBQ lunch as you visit with your student and get to know other Bates families (vegetarian options available). Seating in the Library Quad Tent and Bardwell Tent.

Open only to advance ticket holders and Bates students with ID.
AfternoonOff-Campus Adventures

Each year – pandemic or no – families enjoy taking their Bates students and friends off-campus to explore Maine. We’ve compiled a list of local resources for you – from apple picking, and hiking, to shopping – as you consider how you want to spend time with your student during your visit.

Wonderful things are happening downtown! Join Darby Ray, director of the Harward Center for Community Partnerships and Donald W. and Ann M. Harward Professor of Civic Engagement, for a moderately paced walk through the heart of L-A. Learn about the volunteer, learning, research, cultural, and internship opportunities (not to mention the fabulous restaurants!) that abound in the local community.

Location: Backyard of President Spencer’s House

Bates MOSAIC Families seeks to build community among the family members, guardians, and support networks of underrepresented racial, ethnic, LGBTQIA+, first-generation college, and international Bates students.

Join us to make connections and get to know fellow MOSAIC families. This in-person event will be hosted by President Spencer, and we will be joined by other members of the Bates community.

Additional virtual MOSAIC Families gatherings will happen throughout the academic year.
