Communication

Club Listservs

Listservs are often the most effective form of communication within the club. They are moderated, often by the president of the club. The moderator can change who is subscribed to the list and specify preferences. E-mails will go to all subscribed to the list, and are significantly less restricted than announce e-mails. In order for a moderator to change settings (including adding members) on the list, they must have a password. This password must be given to them by the previous moderator.

Tabling

Tabling is the practice of setting up a table in Commons near the ID scan/check-in. It is a useful way to advertise an event, or get students to sign up for your club or event. You must have volunteers/club members to sit at your table throughout the time you have reserved the location.

Table reservations can be made through EMS (events.bates.edu)

Catering arranges food orders for academic field trips, athletic events, and student club trips at no charge for all participants on a meal plan.  These orders should be placed for the entire group by the person in charge of the trip (e.g. a professor or designee, a coach or responsible person of a student organization) giving at least a 3 business day notification prior to the event.  The organization, team or department will be charged only for those who are not on a meal plan.
