The following organizations actively work to promote success of students from underrepresented groups in STEM. The groups listed here\u00a0 are focused mainly on biological and related fields. A more expansive list of similar organizations across all STEM disciplines can be found here<\/a>. We encourage you to explore these organizations to see if the programs and services they offer could be beneficial to your own success.<\/p>\n

The Black Women in Computational Biology Network<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

“We are an intersectional community of Black women who are working toward (or interested in) a career that combines computational and quantitative sciences with Biology<\/em> “<\/p>\n

SACNAS – Society for Advancement of Chicanos\/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

“SACNAS is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicanos\/Hispanics and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists (MAES)<\/a>\u00a0 (Latinos in Science and Engineering)<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Founded in Los Angeles in 1974, MAES<\/a> is a nonprofit organization that seeks to bolster the number of Mexican Americans and other Hispanics in technical and scientific fields.<\/em>“<\/p>\n

Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers<\/a> (SASE)<\/strong><\/p>\n

SASE was formed in 2007 to support and connect scientists and engineers from the pan Asian cultures. Members of SASE\u2019s professional network benefit from professional and leadership development on topics such as moving from middle to upper management, and networking opportunities.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Association of American Indian Physicians<\/a> (AAIP)<\/strong><\/p>\n

“AAIP<\/em><\/a> aims to recruit and mentor American Indian\/Alaska Native college students into medicine and other health professions.”<\/em><\/p>\n

College Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)<\/a> (only in New York region<\/em>)<\/strong><\/p>\n

“CSTEP<\/a> is an initiative by the New York State Department of Education to increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students enrolling in college or graduate school with the purpose of having careers in STEM fields”<\/em><\/p>\n

National Association of Black chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

“NOBCChE is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to assisting black and other minority students and professionals in fully realizing their potential in academic, professional, and entrepreneurial pursuits in chemistry, chemical engineering, and allied fields.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
