Breaks at Bates

Bates College supports students throughout the academic year, including on breaks! A variety of offices collaborate each break period to provide events and programming for students who are staying on campus during break to get out of their rooms, engage with friends and meet new people!

Breaks at Bates Google Group (listserv)

If you’re on campus over break, join the Breaks at Bates Google Group to get the latest information on events and programs during break, and interact with others who are on campus! You may join or leave the group at any time. After joining via the above link, you may send a message at any time to breaks@groups.bates.edu.

Events Over Break

There are typically a variety of events and other activities hosted on campus over break periods. You may view upcoming Breaks at Bates events here.

Student Event Funding

Breaks at Bates funding is available to students wishing to host an event or program open to all Bates students during official college breaks.  These events/programs are coordinated by students and may include food that is aimed at bringing students together in meaningful ways. Individual students and those affiliated with student clubs and organizations may apply for this funding. You may find the form to do so and more details here.

Meals on Campus Over Break

Dining Services operates Commons and the Den during special hours over official breaks during the academic year. You may view their full schedule and more details here.

Students who receive financial aid and have calculated family contributions of $15,000 or less are eligible for the Academic Break Meal Plan, which extends the student meal plan to include meals during academic breaks. More information can be found here.

Getting Off Campus

Campus Safety provides a shuttle with drop-off points around the Lewiston-Auburn area, as well as enables access to a variety of ways to get off campus during breaks!
