Bobcat Express (Services During Break)

Service For Students at Hampton Inn

The Bobcat Express will continue to provide transportation services for those students who will remain in the local area in residence at the Hampton Inn during the break between semesters. Each day (with the exception of the major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day, when there will be no service provided) a van will be operating during (2) 5-hour time periods having an interruption of a couple hours without service in between. Due to the COVID-19 precautions, there is currently a limit of (6) passengers in the van, and no riders in the front seat. The amount of passengers per trip is subject to change based on interpretations of CDC information pertaining to the pandemic and local transmission of the virus. Windows are apt to be open for air circulation and ventilation even as the weather gets colder, so it is recommended to be prepared and dress warmly.

Regular Schedule 

Bobcat Express will have van service available during the following times:

Monday – Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Monday – Sunday 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

 

Contacting For Service

The primary contact # for Bobcat Express services is (207) 786-8300. If the phone is not immediately answered, it will forward to the Campus Safety dispatcher after the 4th ring. The van will be primarily stationed outside the Hampton Inn during service hours. It is recommended to visually check on whether the van is present before calling from hotel. If the van is not present, it is likely on a run and will return shortly. We request that phone calls be limited so as not to interfere with other operations which the Campus Safety dispatcher performs; please do not make repeated calls to check on ETA after a ride request has already been made, and try to limit the number of calls being made from a group request. The additional volume of calls does not speed up the service, and it may hamper other aspects.

Shuttle Destinations

The Bobcat Shuttle can assist with going to local businesses within a few miles from hotel or campus. Due to the on-going Coronavirus Pandemic, it is advisable to check with businesses in advance to determine any restrictions of their services or times. A few popular locations are featured below:

Walmart – In addition to being one of the largest Wal-Mart in the state you can easily walk to Burger King or Lowe’s.

Kohl’s/Starbucks – Kohl’s is a great place to get clothes, pots and pans, bedding and more, and Starbucks is nice place to get a caffeinated beverage and some quiet time away from campus.

Auburn Mall/Goodwill/Panera/Shaws – The Mall has several stores – Check out the online stores directory.

Auburn Plaza/Flagship Cinema*/TJ Maxx – In addition to those listed you will find Bed Bath and Beyond, the Dollar Tree, Craft Mania, and several other stores. *(Be mindful that if a movie showing is ending at a time beyond the Bobcat Express hours of service, an alternate travel arrangement may be necessary using Uber or Lyft for return)

All of these destinations are in a relatively close walking distance to each other and a short drive from campus. Businesses may have reduced hours and services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is advisable to check and confirm before making a ride reservation.
