Of most importance is the personal safety of each and every student on and off campus, as well as the safety of faculty, staff, and visitors to Bates College.

To this end, the College has taken a number of steps to help provide for a safe environment. These include the installations of security phones, improved lighting, the establishment of the Student Safety program, and many other improvements to Campus Safety.

However, no program can create a perfectly safe environment. It takes the cooperation and participation of each person in their own safety and the safety of others, to make our campus as safe as possible.
