{"id":2707,"date":"2026-09-09T14:42:00","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T18:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/chemistry-biochemistry\/?page_id=2707"},"modified":"2026-09-09T14:50:01","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T18:50:01","slug":"chemistry-concentration","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/chemistry-biochemistry\/chemistry-concentration\/","title":{"rendered":"Chemistry Concentration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This concentration exposes students to core principles in chemistry and selected additional topics that students can tailor to their interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concentration Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Complete at least four one-credit courses from the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Any <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.bates.edu\/course-index\/chem\/\">Chemistry<\/a> course (Except for <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.bates.edu\/search\/?P=CHEM%20218\">CHEM 218<\/a> Organic Chemistry II\/Lab or <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.bates.edu\/search\/?P=CHEM%20360\">CHEM 360<\/a> Independent Study)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.bates.edu\/search\/?P=EACS%20240\">EACS 240<\/a> Environmental Geochemistry\/Lab<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least one credit must be at the 200-level or above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Courses Taken Outside of Bates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only one non-Bates course may be applied toward the concentration.
