The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry has several\nendowed funds that help support its mission. \nGifts to the college can be designated as additions to these existing endowments.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Richard H. Brown Chemistry Equipment Fund<\/strong> George S. Hammond Eminent\nScientist Lecture Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Given in honor of George S. Hammond by his associates and\nPh.D. students from Iowa State University. \nJay K. Kochi led the effort to raise funds for the endowment. The fund\nsupports lectures by eminent scientists in the fields of chemistry or biochemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Keith Fellowship in\nChemistry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Keith Fellowships are funded through the support of Dennis Keith \u201965\nand Jo-Linda Keith. The fellowships support students conducting summer research\nwith a faculty member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Walter A. Lawrance\nResearch Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Given in honor of Walter A. Lawrance, a faculty member at Bates\nfrom 1921-1965, through a gift from Algirdas Poshkus \u201936. The fund supports student research\nactivities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Charles and Ann Poshkus\nFund<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Given by Algirdas Poshkus \u201936 and Casimara Poshkus\nMcIntire \u201940 in honor of Charles and Ann Poshkus. Use of the fund is at the discretion of the\nDepartment, but typically supports senior thesis and independent study research\nprojects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thomas\nJ. Wenzel Undergraduate Research Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Given in honor of Thomas J. Wenzel, a faculty member at Bates from 1981-2020, through a gift from James B.
