{"id":2963,"date":"2022-03-15T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-15T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/president\/?p=2963"},"modified":"2023-02-10T14:18:41","modified_gmt":"2023-02-10T18:18:41","slug":"bates-sustainability-roadmap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/clayton-spencer\/2022\/03\/15\/bates-sustainability-roadmap\/","title":{"rendered":"Bates Sustainability Roadmap"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Members of the Bates Community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are very pleased to share with you&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/sustainability\/sustainability-roadmap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the final version of our Sustainability Roadmap<\/a>, which sets goals for the college including a shift from being carbon neutral, a goal Bates achieved one year ahead of schedule, in 2019, to being Climate Positive by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee for Environmental Responsibility began work on this report shortly after leading Bates to carbon neutrality. Setting these new goals and outlining how we can realistically meet them represents a years-long group effort by the committee, which includes faculty, staff, and students. Implementing this plan will touch on and, I believe, enrich our lives here on the Bates campus, while furthering, quite literally, our mission to prepare leaders with \u201ca commitment to responsible stewardship of the wider world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many thanks to all who participated.
