The college’s streaming video platform, Kaltura<\/a>, allows you to create video quizzes that can then be embedded in your Lyceum course. Question types include multiple-choice, true\/false, and open-ended questions. Questions appear at chosen points during playback, allowing students to engage with the content.

First, create the quiz in Kaltura. If you have not already done so, you will need to upload the video you want to use for the quiz. You upload the video either from within your course Media Gallery<\/a> or by logging into Kaltura directly<\/a>. Once the video is uploaded, from the Kaltura MediaSpace toolbar, click Add New>Video Quiz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click Select next to the media item you want to use for your quiz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Video Quiz Editor is launched. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quiz settings on the left can be updates. The Details section contains the quiz name and welcome message. The Scores section specifies number of attempts allowed and whether scores and\/or answers are visible to students. The Experience section to allow question skipping and fast forwarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click Add a Question and choose a question type. You can add questions one at a time, and the questions will appear on the timeline as you add them. You have the option to shuffle the answers and add hints and\/or feedback or “Whys.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To add the quiz to your course, go back to Lyceum, turn on editing<\/a>, and click Add and Activity or Resource in the appropriate section. Choose the Kaltura Video Quiz activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click Select content. In a new window, you will see all previously created video quizzes in your Kaltura My Media. Click Embed to choose one. The Activity Name will automatically fill with the name of the quiz on Kaltura, but this can be edited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may wish to change the Grade settings. Scroll down to expand the Grade sub menu. Here you can set the type of grade, maximum points, grade category and grade to pass. When you save the activity in the next step, a connected grade item will be created in your gradebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quiz is now posted on the course page, and students start the quiz by clicking Continue within the video frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
