See Ben&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.ttbdis.2019.05.012\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.ttbdis.2019.05.012\" target=\"_blank\">Ticks &amp; Tick-borne Diseases paper<\/a>!<\/li><li><strong>Ryan Mahar\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; development of spatial cognition in seabirds.<\/li><li><strong>Misha Copeland<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; conflicts between property rights and endangered species conservation.<\/li><li><strong>Meredith Miles<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; testing whether individual Chipping Sparrows modulate their song quality in response to simulated challenges by high- and low-quality rivals.<\/li><li><strong>Carla Tilchin<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Carla developed a bacteria-killing assay and used it to test whether two songbird species differ in their likelihood of serving as reservoir hosts for\u00a0<em>Borrelia burgdorferi<\/em>, the causative agent of Lyme disease.<\/li><li><strong>Kaitlin Wellens<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In collaboration with colleague Steve Latta (National Aviary), Kaitlin used a dataset from the aftermath of the 1982-83 El Nino to explore spatial aspects of colony formation in blue-footed boobies in the Galapagos.<\/li><li><strong>Alexis Will\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As a Bucknell undergraduate, Alexis worked with me, Duane Griffin (BU Geography), and scientists at the USFWS Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.\u00a0 Alexis used long-term data on seabird reproductive success (which she helped collect during two summers of field work in Alaska) to test relationships between climate and fish distributions and seabird reproductive success.<\/li><li><strong>John Cullum and Kate Ballentine<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Along with Bucknell MS student Daniel Hanley, this group was testing the relationship between dietary antioxidants and egg coloration in captive chickens, as part of a larger test of a sexual selection hypothesis for blue-green egg coloration in birds.
