Changes to Major and Minor Requirements: Examples

 

  • Major x currently requires 11 courses, including thesis, and consists of three  areas of study.  After a review, the department decides to increase their required courses to 12 by adding an intermediate level method course.  They also decide to add an additional track to their major to increase breadth of knowledge.

 

  • A social science major other than Psychology decides to require the Psychology statistics course as a prerequisite for their thesis seminar.

 

  • A major requires a course in “social justice” from outside the major as a new requirement, and creates a list of courses that will satisfy the requirement.

 

  • A major proposes eliminating the thesis option.
