{"id":10158,"date":"2019-08-07T09:53:41","date_gmt":"2019-08-07T13:53:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/dof\/?page_id=10158"},"modified":"2026-04-16T13:44:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:44:23","slug":"faculty-scholarship-and-grants-committee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/dof\/faculty-scholarship-and-grants-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty Scholarship and Grants Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Charge of the Committee:<\/strong><br>The committee shall: (1) work to develop policies that support and promote faculty scholarship and inclusive pedagogy; (2) allocate funds from the Bates Faculty Development Fund and Learning Associates program, per defined policies; evaluate and decide on applications for Phillips Faculty Fellowships and enhanced sabbaticals; and approve all other sabbaticals; (3) work with the Office of Sponsored Research and Research Compliance to educate faculty on internal and external grant opportunities; (4) communicate leave decisions in a timely manner to the Academic Affairs Council; (5) serve as members of the Committee on Honorary Degrees, a standing committee of the Board of Trustees.<br><em>Faculty legislation last revised Feb 5, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Composition<\/strong>:  Four elected faculty members. A representative of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty shall serve ex officio. Any faculty member with at least three consecutive years of full-time faculty employment at the college may serve. The committee shall have one faculty member from each division.
