EACS 315: GLACIAL GEOLOGY

This course investigates processes of modern glaciers, evidence for past extent and causes for glacial-interglacial climate variability. In the laboratory students are introduced to glacial sediments, field mapping and stratigraphic analysis of glacial deposits in field sites associated with continental and alpine glaciation of northern New England.

The Linne glacier, Svalbard, a small alpine glacier in West Spitsbergen which has been monitored by Bates students in summer research programs since 2005.
