Michael Osei joined Bates College as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics in 2018. His research interests focus on the interactions between the financial sector and macroeconomic conditions and also on the regional economic dynamics in the housing and labor markets. Ongoing research explores heterogeneity and nonlinearity in the FDI-finance-growth nexus, threshold effects of housing prices on local employment multipliers, and the relative importance of higher educational attainment in achieving the American Dream of homeownership. More recent research contributions include papers on local employment multipliers, labor demand shock and housing prices, and homeownership among immigrants and minorities.

His teaching responsibilities include International Finance, Financial Management, Central Banking and the College Fed Challenge, and Principles of Macroeconomics.
