On November 11 at 4:15 in Hedge Hall 106, Professor Dave Owen and Conservationist Colin Apsewill present “Trading Dams: The Penobscot River Restoration Project and the Future of Hydropower Policy and Law.”<\/p>\n

Owens is a professor of law and the associate dean for research for the University of Maine School of Law. His research interests span a wide range of environmental law topics, including dam removal, hydropower management, the Endangered Species Act implementation, groundwater regulations and legal responses to the water quality impacts of urbanization.<\/p>\n

Apse is the senior freshwater conservation advisor for The Nature Conservancy\u2019s Africa, Great Rivers and Eastern U.S. Freshwater Programs. He has worked at the Conservancy for more than a decade, managing freshwater ecosystem conservation and sustainable water management solutions.<\/p>\n
