LECTURER IN JAPANESE
Position pending administrative approval
A non-tenure-track position for a specialist in Japanese language pedagogy.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach four courses per year in undergraduate Japanese language, from beginning to advanced level. Special attention to innovative language pedagogies and teaching language within a liberal arts curriculum. Advise senior theses in Japanese. Attend and participate in regular meetings of the Asian studies program and monthly meetings of the college faculty as well as special events arranged by the program such as lectures and performances.
REQUIREMENTS: 1) M.A. or higher degree in Japanese language pedagogy or a related field. 2) Native or near-native fluency in Japanese. 3) Three years of classroom teaching with at least one year at the college level. 4) Documented publications and presentations on innovative language pedagogy.
