R2065 Visiting Assistant Professor – Music
Bates College invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement in cultural musicology with an area emphasis in Southeast Asia for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Candidates should hold the Ph.D. and show evidence of ethnomusicological research as indicated by scholarly presentations and publications. The candidate should be committed to working in an undergraduate liberal arts environment. Responsibilities include teaching five courses, including an introductory world music course, Musics of Southeast Asia, Introduction to Ethnomusicology, and the direction of the Bates College Gamelan Orchestra. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence, publications, and completed Ph.D. Experience teaching Western music theory is desirable.
