Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Chinelo Okparanta\u00a0is the author of\u00a0Happiness, Like Water\u00a0and\u00a0Under the Udala Trees, the latter of which includes publications in the UK, South Africa, Nigeria, France, and Norway. In 2017, Okparanta was named one of Granta’s “Best of Young American Novelists,” and has made repeated appearances on the BBC, NPR, RT\u00c9 Radio Arena, as well as stations across the African continent, ranging from Nigeria to South Africa. Her honors include an O. Henry Prize, two Lambda Awards, and finalist selections for the Etisalat Prize, the New York Public Library Young Lions Award, the Caine Prize, among others. Her stories have appeared in\u00a0Granta,\u00a0The New Yorker,\u00a0Tin House, and other magazines, and she is currently Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing at Bucknell University.\u00a0Free and open to the public. \nBill Roorbach<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bill Roorbach\u2019s newest book is\u00a0The Girl of the Lake, a collection of stories from Algonquin, which was longlisted for the Story Prize.\u00a0 Also from Algonquin are\u00a0The Remedy for Love, a finalist for the 2015 Kirkus Prize,\u00a0and the bestselling\u00a0Life Among Giants, which won a Maine Literary Award in 2012. Roorbach is the recipient of\u00a0the Flannery O’Connor and O. Henry prizes, as well as\u00a0the Maine Literary Award in creative nonfiction.\u00a0He\u00a0is a 2018 Civitella Ranieri Foundation, NEA, and Furthermore fellow.\u00a0 His craft book,\u00a0Writing Life Stories, is used in writing programs around the world, and his short fiction and nonfiction has appeared in\u00a0Harper\u2019s, The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, Ploughshares, Granta, Ecotone, New York Magazine, Playboy, and elsewhere. Having previously\u00a0taught for the University of Maine at Farmington, Roorbach was later on the Graduate Faculty at Ohio State and more recently held the William H. P. Jenks Chair at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. He now lives and writes full-time\u00a0in Maine.\u00a0 Free and open to the public. Followed by book sales and signing. Myronn Hardy is the author of four volumes of poetry, \u00a0Approaching the Center, winner of the PEN\/Oakland Josephine Miles Award,\u00a0The Headless Saints,\u00a0winner of the Hurston\/Wright Legacy Award,\u00a0Catastrophic Bliss, winner of\u00a0the Griot-Stadler Prize for Poetry,\u00a0and most recently,\u00a0Kingdom.\u00a0 His poems have appeared in\u00a0Ploughshares,\u00a0Virginia Quarterly Review, Indiana Review, FIELD,\u00a0Versal (Amsterdam),\u00a0and elsewhere, and his short stories have\u00a0garnered two Pushcart Prize nominations. Hardy has received fellowships from the Bread Loaf Writers\u2019 Conference,\u00a0the Annenberg Foundation,\u00a0Djerassi,\u00a0Cave Canem, Instituto Sacatar, and Fundaci\u00f3n Valparaiso, and he is currently the visiting poet at Bates College.\u00a0 Free and open to the public.
