Maria Gray ’23<\/h3>
<\/div><\/div>
\n

Maria Gray<\/strong> is an incoming Thomas Hunter Fellow at the Hunter College MFA program in creative writing. She was recently named as a semifinalist for Nine Syllables Press’ annual chapbook contest. In 2024, she was featured as “Poet of the Week” on ONLY POEMS’ website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anna Mangum ’21<\/h3>
<\/div><\/div>

Anna Mangum<\/strong>, previously the associate editor of a Maine-based magazine, Decor Maine<\/em>, is an MFA candidate in Fiction at the University of New Hampshire.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sommer Glasgow ’21<\/h3>
<\/div><\/div>
\n

Sommer Glasgow<\/strong> earned a Master of Science in Narrative Medicine from the University of Utah, and is now attending the University of Utah School of Medicine. She writes, “My exploration of narrative medicine and creative writing firmly grounded me in why I want to pursue medicine, and allowed me to envision the kind of physician that I want to be: one that grounds my practice in the story.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jonathan Farrell ’20<\/h3>
<\/div><\/div>

\n

Just after graduating from Bates, Jonathan Farrell<\/strong> served as a Team Leader in AmeriCorps NCCC on disaster relief in the southern United States. For the past four years, he worked on a Public Library Bookmobile in Bozeman, Montana, bringing library access to retirement homes, schools, community centers, and other parts of the Gallatin Valley. He attended the 2024 Disquiet International Writers\u2019 Conference in Lisbon, Portugal, and is currently an MFA candidate in Fiction at Columbia University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Laurel Fiddler ’17<\/h3>

\"Laurel<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Laurel Fiddler<\/strong> is earning a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and works with youth and their families. She writes: “Counseling theories are a big part of how therapists frame how they work with people, and I find myself drawn to many postmodern approaches that consider how culture and dominant narratives can cause suffering in people’s lives. I learned so much about this at Bates, so it has been really interesting to apply this knowledge to a different field.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Joanie Cappetta ’16<\/h3>

After working for four years as a writer, editor and graphic designer at Brooklyn Rail<\/em>, Joanie Cappetta<\/strong> is currently a candidate for an MFA in creative writing at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she teaches undergraduate English classes and is working on a collection of poems. Her poetry has been published or is forthcoming in b l u s h<\/em>, Little Mirror<\/em>, mercury firs<\/em>, and Tyger Quarterly<\/em>. Her video work has been exhibited at The Abbey (Turner’s Falls, MA) and WIHSH Projects (Chicago, IL), and has been published in TILT<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Evan Hansen-Bundy<\/strong> is currently an editor at Bloomsbury Publishing, where he edits narrative nonfiction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Moore ’13<\/h3>
<\/div><\/div>
\n

Ashley Moore<\/strong> has earned an MFA in fiction from the Michener Center for Writers, where she was a finalist for the Keene Prize for Literature. Her work has been published in Apogee Journal.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n
