Environmental Studies at Bates takes a social justice and interdisciplinary approach to preparing students with the knowledge and skills required to address today\u2019s urgent social-ecological issues. Courses in the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities equip students to explore the cultural, political, scientific, creative, and ethical aspects of environmental questions. Students approach questions in the major by developing more focused knowledge and methodological tools in their major track.
