{"id":13,"date":"2010-07-27T18:12:58","date_gmt":"2010-07-27T18:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hub-dev.bates.edu\/physical-plant\/capital-planning-and-construction\/"},"modified":"2021-07-16T09:00:15","modified_gmt":"2021-07-16T13:00:15","slug":"capital-planning-and-construction","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/about\/capital-planning-and-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"Capital Planning and Construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Capital Planning and Construction staff provides high-quality campus facility master planning and construction services to the College.\u00a0 We are responsible for planning, designing and constructing fixed assets including new and existing buildings, furnishings and equipment and utility infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Project Managers assist in the development of requests for services not considered ordinary maintenance.\u00a0 These typically involve a room\u2019s change of use, renovations and new construction. The cost of the work is typically funded via the capital budget or by the requesting department\u2019s operating budget.\u00a0 Once the \u201cProject\u2019s\u201d scope, schedule and budget are developed (with assistance of Capital Planning and Construction), the requesting department typically submits the Conceptual Project information to their Senior Staff representative for review and approval during the annual capital budgeting request process which typically occurs each November.<\/p>\n<p>You may request a project by submitting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/customer-services\/work-orders\/\">Work Request<\/a>.\u00a0 Your request can be submitted to Facility Services throughout the year allowing ample time for planning and pricing your project while also avoiding last-minute requests, which are difficult to fulfill on short notice.<\/p>\n<p>The Capital Planning and Construction Project Manager\u2019s role is to provide a systemic method to conceptualize, plan, design, and construct capital improvement projects.\u00a0 We strive to complete all projects within the agreed upon scope, schedule and budget, while delivering the highest possible value to the College.<\/p>\n<p>To maintain high service levels, we invest in a strong working relationship with the client to understand the project\u2019s requirements, decisions and available resources and needs.\u00a0 We engage all stakeholders including building occupants, maintenance and operations, Information and Library Services, as well as state and local regulatory and permitting offices, to provide informed and timely decisions throughout each phase of a physical development project.<\/p>\n<p>We contribute to informed decision-making by staffing various campus committees including the\u00a0Space Planning Committee, Classroom Committee, Committee for Environmental Responsibility and Committee on Public Art.<\/p>\n<p>Regular business hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday \u2013 Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Capital Planning and Construction staff provides high-quality campus facility master planning&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"parent":7,"menu_order":4,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","template":"","meta":{"_hide_ai_chatbot":false,"_ai_chatbot_style":"","associated_faculty":[],"_Page_Specific_Css":"","_bates_restrict_mod":false,"_table_of_contents_display":false,"_table_of_contents_location":"","_table_of_contents_disableSticky":false,"_is_featured":false,"footnotes":"","_bates_seo_meta_description":"","_bates_seo_block_robots":false,"_bates_seo_sharing_image_id":0,"_bates_seo_sharing_image_twitter_id":0,"_bates_seo_share_title":"","_bates_seo_canonical_overwrite":"","_bates_seo_twitter_template":""},"class_list":["post-13","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry","with-sidebar"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/13","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=13"}],"version-history":[{"count":20,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/13\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3759,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/13\/revisions\/3759"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/7"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/facility\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=13"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
