Lleva impartiendo clases en Bates College desde 1994. Su \u00e1rea de estudio se centra en las literaturas de la primera modernidad (renacimiento y barroco) en Espa\u00f1a y Am\u00e9rica. Sus investigaciones se realizan en el campo de la representaci\u00f3n del negro y su di\u00e1spora. Es autor de <em>La imagen del negro en el teatro del Siglo de Oro<\/em> (Madrid, Siglo XXI, 1995) y ha editado varios vol\u00famenes en revistas especializadas sobre temas afines. Tambi\u00e9n escribe sobre la literatura de Guinea Ecuatorial y sobre temas de cine. En 2018, con la profesora Sue E. Ha publicado tambi\u00e9n una edici\u00f3n cr\u00edtica, con la profesora Benita Sampedro Vizcaya, de la obra in\u00e9dita de Raquel Ilomb\u00e9 del Pozo Epita, la primera escritora de Guinea Ecuatorial en ver su obra llevada a la imprenta: Ceiba II: Poes\u00eda in\u00e9dita (Madrid: Verbum, 2014). Es asimismo editor de una colecci\u00f3n de ensayos sobre Cervantes y el concepto moderno de raza, publicado en <em>Annals of Scholarship<\/em> (2010). \u00a0El profesor Fra-Molinero ofrece cursos tambi\u00e9n en el Programa de Africana y Estudios latinoamericanos de Bates College.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Doctor en Filolog\u00eda Inglesa, Universidad de Sevilla, 1986. Ph.D. Spanish (Indiana University 1990). Has been teaching at Bates College since 1994. His area of specialization focuses on Spanish and Latin American early modern literature (Renaissance and Baroque periods. His research focuses on the image and representation of the African Diaspora and Blackness. He is the author of\u00a0<em>La imagen de los negros en el teatro del Siglo de Oro [The Image of Blacks in Golden Age Theater]<\/em> (Madrid, Siglo XXI, 1995), as well as several articles on the subject. With Professor Sue E. Houchins, he is the author of a critical edition of an eighteenth-century saint\u2019s life (hagiography) on Sor Teresa Chicaba, the first African woman to have her writings printed in Europe: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/university-press\/book\/9780826521033\"><em>Black Bride of Christ: Chicaba, An African Nun in Eighteenth-Century Spain.<\/em><\/a> Edited with Introductions by Sue E. Houchins and Baltasar Fra-Molinero. Vanderbilt University Press. With Professor Benita Sampedro Vizcaya he produced a critical edition of the unpublished poetic work of Raquel Ilomb\u00e9 del Pozo Epita, <em>Ceiba II: Poes\u00eda in\u00e9dita<\/em> (Madrid, Verbum 2014). Together with Professor Sampedro Vizcaya he co-edited a monographic volume in <em>Afro-Hispanic Review<\/em> on the literary and cultural production of Equatorial Guinea. He is also the editor of a collection of essays on Cervantes and the modern concept of race, published by <em>Annals of Scholarship<\/em> (2010).
