David R. George, Jr. received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2003 and has been Lecturer in Spanish at Bates College since 2000. He teaches courses on Spanish literature and film, Iberian integration in Europe, and Hispano-Asian connections, in addition to all levels of Spanish language.

\nDavid has published more than 30 articles and book chapters on a variety of aspects of nineteenth and twentieth-century Spanish literature, film, and television, including issues of cultural exchange and travel between Spain and Asia. He is co-author of the volumes Historias de la peque\u00f1a pantalla. Representaciones hist\u00f3ricas en la televisi\u00f3n de la Espa\u00f1a democr\u00e1tica<\/em> <\/a>(Iberoamericana 2009), Televising Restoration Spain: History and Fiction in Twenty-First Century Costume Dramas<\/em><\/a> (Palgrave-Macmillan 2018), and Approaches to Teaching the Works of Benito P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s<\/em> (Modern Language Association, forthcoming). He is also the author of annotated editions of Leopoldo Ala\u2019s Do\u00f1a Berta<\/em><\/a> (LinguaText 2008) and Benito P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s\u2019s Tormento<\/em><\/a> (LinguaText 2012).\u00a0His current research deals with the influence of Japanese culture in Spain from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century.<\/p>\n
