Robert Strong is a poet, writer, and scholar widely recognized for his innovative work combining archival research and literary production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His first full-length collection of poetry, Puritan Spectacle<\/a><\/em>, was completed with the generous assistance of a Mellon research fellowship at the Massachusetts Historical Society<\/a>.  During the course of his poetic research, Robert unearthed an important early example of an American conversion narrative<\/a>, which he transcribed and introduced for the New England Quarterly<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert\u2019s book of poetry, Bright Advent<\/em>,<\/a> was selected for the Marie Alexander Series<\/a> and will be published by White Pine Press<\/a>.  This book, which is a hybrid-genre work incorporating verse lines, prose chunks, and archival material from the 1600\u2019s, was supported by a creative arts research fellowship<\/a> at the American Antiquarian Society<\/a>.  You can read an introduction to and selection of Bright Advent<\/a> at Common-place<\/a>.  Robert was the founding editor of Poetic Research<\/a> for the  journal, publishing the works of poets such as Honor\u00e9e Fanonne Jeffers and Brian Teare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert did his graduate work in creative writing at The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics<\/a> at Naropa University (M.F.A.) and the University of Denver<\/a> (Ph.D.), home to the top-ranked<\/a> doctoral program in the country.  As an undergraduate at Boston College, he wrote a thesis on institutional racism for the Faith, Peace, and Justice Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Widely published in journals such as Jubilat<\/em>, 14 Hills<\/em>, and Denver Quarterly<\/em>, Robert\u2019s other books (and book-like objects) include the anthology Joyful Noise<\/a>, the chapbook Brethren: Order of the Seasons<\/a>, and the conceptual fiction Manufact Hologram<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
