Life at Bates is defined by our vibrant community. With more than eighty student-run clubs and organizations<\/a>, there is always something happening for you to get involved in, connect with others, and explore your interests. You\u2019ll find a central hub for campus life and student leadership development in Chase Hall, which houses the First-Year Experience (FYE)<\/a> team, Student Affairs, the Student Center for Belonging and Community, Purposeful Work, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You\u2019ll find so much to do outside of the classroom! At the very beginning of your journey, you\u2019ll take a trip to explore Maine during the Annual Entering Students Orientation Program<\/a> (AESOP) \u2014 our student-led orientation trips that take you everywhere from rock climbing to community engagement. As the year progresses, you can expect to enjoy a memorable meal in Commons during the Harvest Dinner (pictured below), attend the glamorous Gala dance, or take a chilling plunge into Lake Andrews at the annual Puddle Jump during Winter Carnival (also pictured below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n These are just some of the many traditions and events that bring our Bobcat community to life.
