The Department of German and Russian Studies at Bates College is now an officially authorized testing center by the Goethe-Institut.
Goethe-Institut examinations set the global standard in German language proficiency testing, and passing certificates are accepted by employers and higher education institutions across the German-speaking world. The Goethe-Institut’s German language examinations correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and range from A1 for beginners to C2 for language skills at the highest level.
We currently offer examinations at the B2 level only. The Goethe-Zertifikat B2 for learners of German with an intermediate-high/advanced level of proficiency in German is recommended to students with a minimum of three to four years of German study and solid language skills in everyday situations.
For the upcoming examination dates, please contact Prof. Raluca Cernahoschi.
