2018 Fall Semester Abroad Programs
The Bates Fall Semester Abroad program (FSA) provides a unique opportunity to study with Bates students and to learn from Bates faculty in a different international location each fall. The FSA accepts sophomores, juniors, and seniors, with any language background — from beginner to native speaker. Taught by two Bates faculty, the programs include seminars specific to the location, intensive language learning, home stays, and multiple educational excursions. The four courses equal a semester of credit at Bates and a full GEC, in addition to satisfying other Bates requirements (unique to each program). FSAs provide an incredible opportunity to build strong ties to faculty members and fellow students, with the program site as your classroom.
There are two Fall Semester Abroad programs scheduled for Fall 2018:
Berlin, Germany with Professor Dennis Browne (European Studies) and Professor James Richter (Politics)
Santiago, Chile with Professor Claudia Aburto Guzmán (Spanish) and Professor Glen Lawson (Chemistry)
