Bates Fall Semester Abroad Program
Bates sponsors one or more Fall Semester Abroad (FSA) programs each fall under the direction of members of the Bates faculty. The FSA combines academic work with a cross-cultural learning experience and provides students with opportunities for intensive language study. The FSA is a excellent way to get to know Bates faculty and fellow Bates students. Students earn 4 course credits upon completion of the program; grades are included on the Bates transcript and in the student’s GPA. The Bates single fee includes all program costs, including international airfare. The program is open to all students and there is no language prerequisite.
In Fall 2020, Professors Aburto Guzman (Spanish) and Lawson (Chemistry) will lead an FSA to Santiago, Chile. The program will explore science and identity in Chile through a focus on public health.
