The Bates College Global Ambassadors are a team of Bates students who work on programs, events, peer-advising, marketing, and more in collaboration with the Center for Global Education. These students are leaders in thinking about how Bates connects to the world and how the world can connect to Bates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025-26 Global Ambassadors and their drop-in advising office hours are listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hello! My name is Verina Tinashe Chatata and I’m an international student from Malawi. I’m a senior double-majoring in Neuroscience and French & Francophone Studies. I’ve had the privilege to study all over the world, namely the UK, Singapore, and now the US. During my junior year at Bates, I studied abroad in Paris, France and Maastricht, The Netherlands. In my free time, I like to color, cook, and play Stardew Valley. I’m super excited to meet you all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi! My name is Kayleigh and I am from Litchfield, Maine. I am a senior double majoring in Biology and Asian Studies. I spent the fall of my junior year studying at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea studying Korean language and biology. During short term, I went to China and studied history and traditional Chinese medicine. That summer, I was able to go back to Korea and study Korean language and culture at Sogang University in Seoul as a Stark Scholar. With all of these amazing experiences, I have learned so much about language and culture and look forward to working with you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi everyone! My name is Deborah Meillah, a rising sophomore from Kigali, Rwanda, planning to major in Environmental Studies. I\u2019m deeply interested in abroad studies and how exploring different places can shape the way we see ourselves and the world. While I haven\u2019t studied abroad yet, I\u2019m looking forward to doing so in my junior year. This year, I\u2019m especially excited to be part of the Global Ambassadors team and to share in conversations about cultural exchange, opportunities, and the many paths that studying abroad can open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi! My name is Ruhan and I’m an international student from Bangladesh. I’m a senior this year, majoring in Economics and doing a minor in DCS. Studying abroad has been one of my highlights over the past three years, and I’ve been extremely lucky to do programs in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Japan, and Scotland. I’m excited to talk to you and learn more about you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
