Gallant Ed.D. has served as the Associate Dean and Director of the Center for Global Education at Bates College since 2019. Dr. Gallant directs the Global Education department which serves international students and coordinates the off-campus study programs. Darren&#8217;s primary functions include the off-campus study program, the Short Term Off-Campus\/Extra Cost courses, risk management, and academic credit transfer. Prior to joining Bates, Darren served as the assistant director of study abroad at Brandeis University. He has held various roles in higher education at Wheelock College, Grinnell College, Columbia University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and New York University. Darren contributes to the field of international education through service, professional presentations, and membership on various board, including NAFSA and the Forum on Education Abroad. Darren received his Bachelors from Brandeis University in politics and sociology, a Masters from New York University in higher education administration, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Illinois &#8211; Urbana Champaign. In this role, she advises F-1 students on immigration matters, assists with SEVIS compliance, and develops programming to foster intercultural engagement and belonging.<br><br>Dari brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work. Originally from Mongolia, she arrived in the U.S. as a Fulbright scholar and earned her M.S.W., M.S.P.H., and Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before joining Bates, she served as Assistant Director of International Student Engagement at Wesleyan University, where she coordinated international student orientation, advised on immigration benefits, and developed and ran programs to support international students. Her work at Wesleyan was recognized with the Cardinal Achievement Award for Extraordinary Initiative in 2024.<br><br>Dari&#8217;s background also includes experience as a researcher and educator, with publications in early childhood development and program evaluation. She speaks Mongolian, Russian, and English.
